12 week term with a break for half term

Taught by Kate Broadhurst

Why is it that so many people think they can’t draw? ‘I haven’t picked up a pencil since school!’ ‘I can’t even draw a stick figure’ are phrases often heard by art teachers. Well this course will help you realise that everyone has the power within to draw. You just need to re-discover the skills you learnt and a child, and practice, practice, practice.

This course is suitable for both beginner and improving artists. Through drawing we learn to see…and we will help you learn to draw and see with confidence and ease! In these weekly workshops you’ll explore the great potential of drawing and mark-making with pencils, charcoal and pen. A variety of creative projects, themes and subjects will help to grow your observational skills and keep you inspired. You’ll learn the essential skills of composition, perspective, shading and so much more. With a mix of traditional and experimental drawing methods you’ll start to develop your own unique drawing style.

Not only is drawing fun, but it helps communicate an idea, improves your memory and increases mindfulness. The focus required to draw brings you into the present moment, making it an excellent mindfulness practice that helps lower stress and anxiety. We will learn how to draw for fun and also for purpose.

The aim is to build a community of artists who all want to improve their drawing abilities, resulting in a group of like-minded souls who will learn, chat, laugh and soon realise they can actually draw 😉

This workshop is taught by tutor Kate Broadhurst for adults.
