'Springtime Characters' with Ellie Hooi (mixed ages)
13th April 2025
Sunday
1:30-4:00
This workshop caters for tweens (11+) teens and adults. It’s an opportunity for inter-generational family members to draw and paint together. A great parent/grandparent/child workshop, but equally perfect for friends any age, or just come on your own and make new arty friends.
Description:
Celebrate the magic of Easter and the beauty of Spring with our enchanting watercolour workshop! This mixed-age session invites artists of all skill levels to capture the charm of woodland creatures and vibrant farmyard scenes through the delicate art of watercolour. From fluffy lambs and waddling ducklings to the playful Easter bunny hopping through a meadow, you’ll bring these springtime characters to life on paper. You will be using a delightful palette of pastel colours and designs to represent their personalities. You’ll learn techniques for painting these characters tucked among blooming flowers, budding leaves and Easter eggs.
Ellie will guide you through key techniques. You will have the chance to experiment with one-on-one guidance and support to create your own watercolour illustration, which you can then frame or make into a card.
Whether you’re an experienced artist or new to painting, this workshop is the perfect way to celebrate the joy and renewal of spring.
Artist / Maker / Tutor:
Ellie is an illustrator and stationery producer from Cardiff, Wales. She set up Ellie Hooi Illustration to create and share handmade watercolour illustrations, and to make greeting cards that would bring a smile to someone’s day through the joy of a handwritten card. Ellie has developed a large social media following and regular shares films of her bringing her characters to life through paint.
Ellie is mainly inspired by the local wildlife and seasonal produce that she grows at her allotment. Her characters have their own personalities and you can almost hear their little conversations, which makes me wonder is Ellie Cardiff’s very own Beatrix Potter?
What is included in the ticket price?
All art supplies are provided but you are welcome to bring your own along too if you prefer.
Tea, coffee and biscuits.
Where will the workshops take place?
In Beth’s studio at Insole Court, Cardiff.
Please read all the T’s and C’s before booking.
